Garden Club
In 2004, a tornado
roared through our town, ripping up trees, tossing cars, furniture, buildings, and anything else it could muscle off
the ground, leaving behind a community of stunned citizens. With time, hard work, and neighbor helping neighbor, we
are bringing Olla back.
LaSalle High School was demolished during the chaos, 2008 brought the final additions to the beautifully
re-built school. The Seniors of the class of 2008 were excited as classes resumed and they knew they would be the first
class to graduate from this new school.
However, the tornado and
the construction process left the campus looking like a disaster area. The women of the Pinewood Garden Club took
on the challenge. A committee was formed with Joan Rachel, Mary Tam, and Ruby Moody, and with the other members cheering them
on, they got busy. With the use of the 501(c)3 tax number for the Centennial Cultural Center, they began making contacts to
ask for help with the project, and people were generous.
The committee of three, with shovels
in hand, did much of the labor, in just a short time the shrubbery and flower beds have settled in with an “always been
there” look. LaSalle High School is once again looking great.
Ladies of Pinewood Garden Club
We would like to once again thank the Ladies of Pinewood Garden Club for
their hard work in helping the LaSalle High School replant trees, flowers and hope.
