We are beginning to the first signs of spring. Flowers are blooming and it's time to plow the garden to get the seed potatoes
in the ground. I love that earthy smell. Speaking of earthy, the center is now planning our
3rd annual Central Louisiana Bluegrass Festival on April 23rd and 24th 2010. Why bluegrass? It is a laid back front porch
sitting, back to our roots music that is family and community friendly. Who doesn't need a taste of that in our hectic
lives? Speaking of taste, we are planning a crawfish boil on Friday, April 23rd at 5pm -- with
red beans and rice for the faint of heart. Someone asked if crawfish isn't a South Louisiana thing...no! Haven't you
ever caught them with a string and a piece of bacon out of a mud hole (earthy) and boiled them in a can over an open fire? An auction will begin on Friday at 6:30pm. This is where people donate things they don't need
and then come and buy things they don't need that others have donated. This is a fund-raiser for the center, and great
fun. There will also be jamming both Friday and Saturday. "Jamming" is an informal
gathering of musicians who play with different groups. People are free to move from group to group to listen. (bring your
own chair) We will begin Saturday at 10am with food booths, crafts and groups on stage. This is a community event and we need for the community to be involved. We will need many volunteers.
There is an old saying "Bloom where you are planted." This is a great motto. We love
to teach young people how to make seeds turn into flowers, meanwhile, planting into them seeds of worth, hope and service
to others. We endeavor to remember the past, live the present and have hope for the future.
